Mike Bertino

Mike Bertino brings over 40 years of experience to YOUNG & Associates in all facets of the construction industry. Considered a construction industry expert, Mike's career includes positions as corporate officer-in-charge of two major construction firms, Keating Building Corporation and Mellon-Stuart Company.

With Mellon-Stuart, he was Senior Vice President responsible for preconstruction operations for the northern, the eastern and the southern U.S. regions. During his 14-year tenure with Mellon-Stuart, he was also Senior Vice President of the Eastern Region orchestrating an annual construction volume of $350 million.

As officer in charge of Keating's construction division for over 10 years, Mike provided executive management for all construction operations including providing planning and preconstruction expertise for an annual volume of $300 million. He has been called upon by private enterprise to provide expertise in matters related to construction, and provides expert testimony in the areas of preconstruction planning, project development, purchasing, contract negotiations, subcontracting, and replacement cost analysis and field construction. Mike has orchestrated many complex and challenging construction programs to successful completion.

Mike is a proven leader committed to customer personal attention and exceeding client expectations. Mike received his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Michigan and is a Registered Professional Engineer in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Tom Boyd

Tom Boyd

A licensed general contractor and licensed inspector, Tom joined YA's team as a consultant in February 2001 after more than 20 years in the construction industry.

As a twenty year resident of Murrieta, Calif., Tom started his career as a framing foreman. In 1986, he launched his own general-contracting business specializing in residential/light commercial construction projects and rough framing.

Ten years later, Tom decided to help build a second construction business.

As its first employee, chief estimator, project manager and superintendent, he helped the firm quickly grow to a projected $100 million in gross sales for 2001.

His experience with YA is extensive working on projects primarily in the Southwest, including the California wildfires of 2003 and 2007. As a seasoned Manager, Tom provided leadership during the 2004 and 2005 hurricane season on assignments from Florida to Texas as well as being an integral part of the YOUNG & Associates CAT team during Hurricanes Ike and Gustav in Texas in 2008.

Scott Cushing

Scott Cushing

With 30 years of experience in the construction industry, Scott joined YOUNG & Associates in June 1998. He's been in the industry since he was a teenager, working as a laborer on residential and commercial projects while completing high school and college. A native of Seattle, Scott earned two degrees in 1986 at Washington State University; a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Real Estate.

From estimator/field engineer to senior estimator, Scott has worked on a variety of projects during his career, including a new retirement community in the Northeast; expansion of a college-basketball pavilion; and a $20-million commercial project. Since joining YA, Scott has acquired extensive CAT experience, beginning with the Seattle earthquake in 2001 through the 2004 and 2005 hurricane seasons in the Southeast U.S. and in Hawaii during the 2006 earthquake.

Scott manages a team of 10 consultants out of his office in Seattle and has consulted on hundreds of commercial, industrial, marine, health care, multi-family and residential losses, including several large multi-million dollar losses.

Kevin Entress

With over twenty-seven years of engineering and construction experience, most recently serving as Vice-President/Project Executive for Bertino & Associates, Kevin brings to YA extensive knowledge of project management from preconstruction planning through completion.

Kevin's experience ranges from Civil/Site design for a Consulting Engineering firm then on to a Field Engineer position with Perini on the original Showboat Casino Hotel in Atlantic City. He then worked as a Project Manager for two local construction companies in Atlantic City. Perhaps, his most valuable experience was gained during his 9 years as Vice President of the Construction and Development Department for Caesars Entertainment. In this position, Kevin oversaw all construction projects for all Caesars Entertainment properties in Atlantic City, which included over 50 million in annual capital expenditures as well as major construction projects ranging from $25 to $525 million.

A graduate of West Virginia University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, Kevin is a proven project executive and leader, bringing a wide-range of experience and accomplishments to YOUNG & Associates.

David Green

David Green

With over 30 years of mechanical engineering and project management experience, David has been a member of YOUNG & Associates since August of 2005.

Most recently, David was a Vice-President with Brady-Horne Company with full responsibility for project management and development, planning and engineering for this $25MM/year mechanical construction company specializing in design/build delivery of industrial processing, manufacturing and distribution facilities for the food, chemical, steel, forest products and manufacturing sectors.

Since joining YA, David has gained extensive large loss experience starting with the 2005 and 2008 Hurricane seasons. In addition, David has been involved with a number of assignments, including fire, tornado, flood, wind and property damage. David’s extensive mechanical and process engineering experience has proven invaluable in terms of handling large losses.

Along with holding a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Memphis, David is a Registered Professional Engineer in 12 states and a Licensed Mechanical Contractor in 10 states.

Don Lombardo

With over twenty-eight years of construction experience, most recently serving as Senior Project Director/Executive for Perini Building Company in Framingham, MA, Don brings to YOUNG & Associates extensive knowledge of the construction industry.

While with Perini for the last fourteen years, Don was responsible for planning, organizing, budgeting, scheduling and financial control of projects, primarily in the hospitality, gaming, sports and entertainment markets, ranging from $75 to over $500 million, with complete responsibility from conception through closeout implementing Perini's "Building Relationships on Trust" philosophy, delivering projects with aggressive fast-track schedules, elaborate designs and advanced systems while providing accurate budgeting and strict quality control.

Don began his career as a Journeyman Electrician and then onto a General Superintendent's role and eventually as a Project Manager for a Connecticut based construction before joining Perini.

Along with proven leadership and solution focused ability and a designation as a LEED Accredited Professional, Don brings to YA extensive knowledge of industry methods, codes and regulations.

Mark O'Connor

Mark O'Connor

With over 16 years of general management and estimating experience, Mark has been a member of YOUNG & Associates since September of 2008.

Most recently, Mark was the General Manager of A & I Corporation, a general contractor specializing in insurance repairs and property restoration services throughout North and South Carolina. As the GM, Mark was responsible for negotiating contracts and estimates for large catastrophic losses. His additional responsibilities included purchasing, job scheduling, budgeting and marketing. Mark also has provided expert estimating testimony.

Since joining YA, Mark has expanded his large loss experience, beginning with the 2008 Hurricane season along the Texas and Gulf Coast region. In addition, Mark has been involved with a number of other assignments, including fire and water damage losses.

Along with his extensive experience in the insurance restoration industry, Mark studied Business Administration at Camden County College in New Jersey and has been both a community leader and member of various South Carolina Chambers of Commerce.

Ron Perley

Ron Perley

With over 20 years of Electrical Project Management experience, Ron has been a member of YOUNG & Associates since June, 1999 and is based in Southern California.

Prior to 1999, Ron served as a Senior Project Manager with Berg Electric in the Los Angeles area responsible for estimating, scheduling, purchasing and contract management. Since joining YA, Ron has gained extensive commercial and residential damage loss estimating experience, including in depth involvement during the Southeastern U.S. hurricane seasons of 2004 and 2005. He also has extensive experience working in Hawaii, most recently with the earthquake at the end of 2006.

Ron is a graduate of the Joint Apprenticeship Program of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W.) and holds a California State Contractors License along with completing coursework in Construction Management, Project Scheduling, Cost and Change Order Estimating.

David Schifani

David Schifani

With over 25 years of professional management, construction and consulting experience, David joined YOUNG & Associates in September of 2004.

Most recently, David served as President and Owner of two Memphis-based start-up companies, Lighting Inc. and Contract Specialties, LLC. With Lighting Inc., David held full responsibility for business development, sales, accounting and the daily operation of this commercial lighting company. As owner of Contract Specialties LLC, David gained extensive hands on experience in construction and residential remodeling.

Since joining YA, David has gained extensive large loss experience beginning with the Florida Hurricane season in 2004, followed by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma in 2005 along with Ike and Gustav in 2008. David has been involved with projects from coast to coast across the United States, including California Wild Fires on the West Coast and a large yearlong manufacturing plant fire and reconstruction project in Massachusetts. In between, David has gained extensive experience, not only as a consultant, but as a Project Manager, with tornado, water, wind and structural damage assignments.

A native of Memphis, TN, David studied Civil Engineering at the Tennessee State Institute in Memphis.

Mike Vujica

Mike Vujica

Since 1984, Mike has been actively involved and working in all aspects of the construction industry. Prior to joining YOUNG & Associates in October of 2005, Mike’s experiences ranged from working as a union labor on large public and private sector jobs to a project engineer during his college years to eventually owning his own site utility and real estate development company. After leaving Chicago in 2000, Mike worked as a senior project manager for Swinerton Builders, one of the largest general contracting firms on the west coast, working on two completely new college campuses, a new $200 million private university located in Aliso Viejo, California, as well as a new $40 million satellite campus for Cal State University located in Palm Desert.

Most recently Mike was the Vice President of Operations for WDL Construction with full responsibility for company business development, estimating and finances along with client and architect relations, human resource issues and project management. His vast array of projects includes roads and bridges, water and waste water treatment plants, multi-story office buildings as well as educational and health care facilities. These projects were constructed for both private and public sector clients.

Since joining YA, Mike has gained extensive large loss assessment and management experience starting with the 2005 and 2006 hurricane seasons. In addition, Mike has handled a multitude of other assignments including fire, water, storm, collapse, builders risk and construction defect claims. His years of general contracting experience has proven invaluable as it relates to the assessment, scoping, estimating, scheduling and overall process and project management of today’s complex large losses.

As a native of Chicago Mike has returned to his home to manage YA’s Midwest Regional office as well as the Florida office located in Ft. Lauderdale and the St. Louis office.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural and Geotechnical emphasis) from the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana.

Shane Woytko

Shane Woytko

Shane Woytko has been involved in the construction industry for 23 years. Early experience working for his father, gaining exposure to general contracting and working for multiple sub-trades, laid the foundation for his further career ambitions in the construction management sector.

Shane attended the University of Washington and pursued a degree in Construction Management. After college, he worked for a Seattle based hard bid commercial general contractor for 9 years, mostly Project Managing the construction of institutional and high-end office buildings ranging from 10-20 million dollars. In 2002, Shane started up his own bonded and licensed general contracting company in Seattle, which he owned and operated for 2 ½ years prior to joining YOUNG & Associates.

Once joining YA in 2004, Shane has worked on the 2004 Hurricane damage in Florida and the 2005 Hurricane Katrina, Wilma and Rita damage in the Gulf area and Florida. He additionally has estimated and provided prospectus estimates for heavy commercial construction as well as worked on various non catastrophic losses. These have ranged from flooded schools and high rises to fire damaged residential and commercial buildings to warehouse roof collapses to contracting dispute losses involving casinos. Shane’s blend of ground roots construction knowledge, communication skills and micro and macro construction management experience make him a versatile consultant for YOUNG & Associates.
