Puget Sound Terminal, Seattle

The Feb. 28, 2001 earthquake that struck Washington State damaged the Puget Sound Terminal in Seattle.

Two facilities suffered damage at the terminal - a warehouse and a large pier in Puget Sound.

In the warehouse, the earthquake damaged a large tilt-up concrete wall panel. Repairs were made to its connections and to caulking at panel joints. The warehouse also suffered other miscellaneous minor damage.

The pier sustained substantial damage to its bulkhead, decking, beams and piles. Reconstruction necessitated replacing all decking and stringers at repair areas, and substantial repairs to beams and piles.

On the scene within days, YOUNG & Associates developed scope-of-job and cost estimates for repairing the damage to the historic building. The YA team also reviewed contractors' estimates, attended progress meetings, and reviewed work and costs incurred by the sub-contractor.
